Indonesia’s exports in January 2025 reached 17,094 MT in January 2025, up 4% year over year. The value increased to $140 million, 14% year over year, illustrating the substantial price improvement compared to the same period last year. Some more details below:

  • Raw L. vannamei: 8,792 MT = +14%
  • Raw P. monodon: 350 MT = -59%
  • Cooked and marinated: 4,934 MT = +26%
  • Breaded: 745 MT = +11%

  • China: 1,079 MT = -32%
  • EU: 713 MT = +72%

Exports of cooked and marinated shrimp reached their second-highest January export volume ever. Market-wise, exports to Asian and other European markets drop. The growth outside the US is promising and shows that, to some extent, Indonesia’s exporters can diversify their markets.

The graph below shows that the upward average export value trend continues. While the average export value to the US stabilized from December to January, compared to January 2024, the price is 18% higher. The average value of exports to Japan continues to increase from December to January and is 7% higher than in January 2024.
