
In January 2025, the EU imported 30,604 MT of raw Penaeus and value-added shrimp from Africa, the Middle East, the EU, and the US. This is an 8% increase year over year and a new record for January, breaking the previous record from 2022.
The increase was accounted for by the import of value-added products from India and Vietnam in the Northwestern EU; imports dropped year over year in the Southern and Eastern EU. Supplies from Ecuador and Venezuela dropped year over year.
The average value per kg reached €6.47, up from €5.99 in 2024 and €6.87 in 2023, but down from €7.86 in 2022. Some more details below:
